Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
Scandinavians celebrate the summer solstice - the longest day of the year - with a festival of music, flowers, and food in Bond Park the last weekend in June, the 22th to 24th. Festivities begin on Friday evening, June 22rd, with contemporary Scandinavian music and dancing in the beer garden from 4 pm to 9 pm. Saturday morning starts with the raising of the Maypole at 9:30 am followed by the Grand March Entrance. Entertainment by folk dance groups and Scandinavian musicians. In addition, there will be a large art and craft fair. Some exhibitors will be selling traditional Scandinavian food, baked goods, decorations and hand-made crafts. There will also be a vintage Volvo & Saab Auto Show. Don't miss the Viking Encampment re-enactment and Viking ship replica. All daytime activities of the festival are free and open to the public. Bond Park in center of Downtown, Saturday 9:30 am to 5 pm. Sunday 9:30 am to 4pm. Free.
The festival is free to attend and wheelchair accessible. Parking and restrooms are located adjacent to the park.
