Winter Romance in the Rockies – A Valentine’s Day to Remember!

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, but don’t wait until February to plan a romantic escape to the Colorado mountains! There are many ski towns in Colorado with lots to offer – but if it’s romance you’re looking for you should consider booking a weekend away from the winter crowds you’ll find in other mountain towns.

Estes Park, Colorado really is the perfect place to come to get away from the hustle of daily life and kindle the flames of love! Here are some ideas to get your planning started:

Start your weekend off right!

Picture waking up to the soothing sounds of Fall River rushing past your cozy winter hideaway. The first thing on your mind is coffee, and breakfast, and coffee! Estes Park has several coffee shops to chose from right in town – whether you like a chain or a hometown haunt.

Locals line up early for the best cinnamon rolls at Cinnamon’s Bakery. Cinnamon’s uses high quality ingredients, and makes their rolls from scratch every day! They open at 7:30 until 10:00 am (or until they are sold out…which happens often!), Friday – Sunday. Sneak out early and bring back a cinnamon roll for a breakfast in bed that is sure to sweeten the day!

Get outside!

Now that you’ve eaten, head out for adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park! A great way to experience the park in winter is to take a Ranger-Led snowshoe hike. These hikes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from January thru March. Reservations are required, and appropriate clothing is essential.

Call 970-586-1223 to reserve a spot for a snowshoe hike on the East side of RMNP (Estes Park), or 970-586-1513 to reserve a spot on the West side of the park (Grand Lake).

Happy Hour done right

Next, stop by Bird & Jim a restaurant that specialized in locally sourced and ingredient driven food (named after Isabella Bird and Mountain Jim – two famous Estes Park explorers). They serve happy hour food and great cocktails on their mid-day + happy hour menu from 1:30 – 4:00 pm each day.

How to find the perfect room:

Return to your mountain retreat to start a fire in the fireplace and soak in a private hot tub. Our Lodging Guide will help you search for a room with these amenities – and more! Now that sounds like the recipe for a very happy weekend away!
